PDX burgers: Little Big Burger

so. since touching down in Portland for the first time, i've been to Little Big Burger not once, not twice, but three times. i saw LBB flagged by Serious Eats as one of their favorite burgers for $5 and under across the U.S., and seeing as this chain is dotted all over my new hometown i could not be anymore excited to try them.

Little Big Burger's premise is simple. they offer a menu with about 6 items - burger, cheese burger, fries, soda... you get the drift. simple stuff, but the important stuff. each of those items is then made from the best ingredients they can get their little big hands on, and priced at an amazingly reasonable price considering what they deliver (spoiler alert: they deliver delicious). it truly is like getting a gourmet fancy pants burger in a fast food setting.

the burgers are made with 1/4 lb of Cascade natural beef, fresh baked brioche buns (not sure if they do these on site or bring them in), local cheeses, fresh veggies, and local ketchup. the 1/4 lb beef patty is made thick, resulting in a stout little burger that rests atop a proportionately sized bun. picture something between a regular sized burger and a slider. this sizing allows for an insanely juicy patty that packs so much flavor (vs. a 1/4 lb patty that is 5 inches wide, 1 mm thick and no matter what will be cooked well done even if it's on the griddle for 3 seconds). their fries (truffle fries!) are equally as delish, leading to a fantastical mouth party all around.

for $4.25 i can't imagine how anyone could EVER go to McD's for a big mac vs. getting one of these delicious little soldiers. or maybe everyone should go to McD's, and leave all these little buggers to me : )
